Applegate After Dark (AAD) is a collaborative group of community members, local organizations, and partners united by a shared passion for the night sky. The group first formed in March 2025, following an increased awareness that dark skies are a shared natural resource in need of protection for generations to come.
AAD is celebrating its one year anniversary with this free stargazing event at Wooldridge Creek Winery!
Activities will commence at 6:30PM with an after-hour gate opening for people to gather and mingle. Beverages are available for purchase but are not required for entry. At 7PM, Liz Shen (a founding member of AAD) will offer a presentation about the broader dark sky movement and how our local group is helping others learn why and how to preserve our night sky. As the sun sets and the night sky takes over, Sam Dennis (another founding member of the group) will guide participants in using their binoculars to view interesting celestial features from the sliver of our moon to planets and galaxies and star clusters and more!
Bring warm clothes, a folding chair or blanket, and binoculars if you have them! Some binoculars will be available.
Given that a clear night is necessary for stargazing, this event will be rescheduled if skies are cloudy.
