Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers support our mission by partnering in hands-on stewardship and restoration throughout the Applegate watershed, participating in regular Provolt Volunteer Team work parties at the Provolt Recreation Site and community-wide volunteer opportunities at Cantrall Buckley Park.

Why Volunteer With Us

Make a meaningful, hands-on impact

Your time directly supports on-the-ground stewardship and restoration projects that improve habitat, strengthen ecosystems, and care for the land we all depend on. You’ll see the results of your work—often the same day.

Build community connections

Work alongside neighbors, landowners, staff, and partner organizations who share a commitment to healthy lands and strong communities. Many volunteers form lasting friendships through shared work and purpose.

Learn new skills and knowledge

Volunteers gain practical experience in restoration techniques, native plants, and ecology. Whether you’re building leadership skills, exploring a career interest, or simply curious to learn more about the natural world, our projects offer hands-on learning for all experience levels.

Spend time outdoors

Get fresh air, move your body, and enjoy the beauty of the Applegate watershed while doing meaningful work. Volunteering offers a rewarding alternative to screen time and a chance to reconnect with nature.

The Provolt Volunteer Team

The Provolt Volunteer Team (PVT) is a group of dedicated community members who are passionate about making the Provolt Recreation Site (PRS) a functional and inviting community space for all. They work with the Bureau of Land Management and APWC on a variety of projects around PRS.

Volunteer activities can include mowing & weeding, trail building & maintenance, main gate opening & closing, leadership support, and so much more. Volunteer work can be done independently or at our organized work parties, which feature coffee, snacks, and friendship!

Stewardship at Cantrall Buckley Park

The Park Enhancement Committee (PEC) is made up of devoted community members who care for and strive to enhance a cherished community space - Cantrall Buckley County Park. They work with Jackson County Parks and APWC on an assortment of restoration and conservation projects, implement Art in the Park, and help develop cultural projects and interpretive signs.

Volunteer duties include prepping & planting pollinator beds, watering & weeding, invasive species removal, trail maintenance, interpretive sign design, and more. Volunteer work is typically done at our organized events and work parties, but can also be done independently with PEC approval. Volunteers receive a free park pass for the days they help, making it even easier to enjoy the beauty of Cantrall Buckley Park while giving back.
